✦ Synopsis

Given the current demand for health economics skills and the still relatively few locations where it is possible to learn health economics, the University of Tromsca, Norway is running a Distance Learning Course in Health Economics. The course design, content, materials and teaching are in the hands of Professor Gavin Mooney who has developed and is responsible for similar courses, but aimed at non-economists in the Nordic countries and the UK.

All graduates in economics, and perhaps certain undergraduates in economics and others judged to have the necessary background will be eligible for the course wherever they are based in the world.

They will also require a good working knowledge of English, the language of the course.

The third course will start in September 1992 and will run until the spring of 1993. It will consist of three learning units, for each of which students will complete a written assignment and a final unit involving a short dissertation. Students will be expected to devote about 10 hours per week to the course. It will be conducted wholly by correspondence with assessment being based on the submitted written work. (There will however be a voluntary two-day seminar for those wishing it to be held possibly in Tromsca).
