โฆ Synopsis
The next two papers were concerned with a long term project being carried out by two members of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Linkbping University. This project is investigating the problems of communication between man and computer, and specifically those of man-computer dialogues. Bengt Johnsson, who has already been mentioned is one of the pair, and Bertil Andersson who presented the next paper, is the second. Bertil Andersson's paper described the project and its progress so far, and explained some of the experimental designs which will be used in the next stage of the project. This will consider the task of telephone operators using a terminal (and computer system) to deal with subscribers and engineers, and the dialogue between the operator and the computer. The pilot study for this project was reported in the following paper given by Howell Istance, (ERGOLAB).
