✦ Synopsis

Harmonic AC susceptibilities as a function of temperature (T), AC field frequency (f), amplitude (B ac ) in DC field (B dc ) have been studied numerically as well as experimentally. The numerical calculation is based on nonlinear vortex diffusion. The numerical result shows that there exists a second harmonic, although very weak, while a third harmonic is strong. The location of the third harmonic shifts toward low temperature while its height increases with either decreasing f or increasing B ac . These numerical results are in agreement with experimental results observed for textured YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 and in contrast with prediction of the Bean critical state model or self-organized criticality. It is also shown that the height of the third harmonic peak depends on B ac and f more sensitively than that of the fundamental one.

It has been shown that Nd 1+x Ba 2-x Cu 3 O 7-x could exhibit a pronounced J c (H) peak effect, which results in an enhancement of the critical current density under the medium range magnetic field. Additions of small quantities of Nd 2 O 3 into Pt-doped YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-x (Y123) resulted in the forma

We report results of microwave second-harmonic generation in ceramic samples of MgB 2 , prepared by different methods. The SH signal has been investigated as a function of the temperature and the static magnetic field. The results are discussed in the framework of models reported in the literature.

Textured YBCO samples were produced following the partial-melt method with sample transport. Structural and compositional characterizations, performed by means of XRD and SEM/EDS, show the presence of the 123 with a small amount of 211 inclusions. The investigated samples show a non weak link behavi
