✦ Synopsis
The methods proposed in previous papers for the treatment of a translationally invariant four body problem in an oscillator basis are further developed. Particularly the use of these methods for the calculation of two body matrix elements and the elastic form factor with orbital functions adapted to permutational symmetry is investigated. Considerable simplifications are achieved and the usefulness of the method for large numerical calculations is greatly enhanced. By way of an example the groundstate of the a-particle and its elastic form factor are analyzed for central potentials.

In the present paper we determine the general projection technique for getting translationally-invariant configuration-space four-particle states of arbitrary symmetry and total orbital angular momentum, out of harmonic-oscillator states in the single relative coordinates.
Recent experiments on electron scattering by helium nuclei and the information they give on the form factor of the 01 particle, suggest that the elementary Gaussian distribution of charge in this nucleus must be modified. For this purpose we have expanded the wavefunction of the 01 particle in terms
