Further experimental work, with an improved apparatus, on purified benzene, n-hexane and cyclohexane is reported. The dielectric current at the fundamental frequency is nearly all capacitance current, but it is shown that the dielectric does not behave merely as a non-linear impedance, and must also contain the equivalent of a source. The current harmonics are shown to be statistically significant at the 80 per cent confidence level, and thus must indeed be associated with a physical process occurring in the electrically stressed liquid. While there are many points of similarity between the three liquids studied, significant differences, at an 80 per cent confidence level, are found to exist between their harmonic spectra. Some harmonics are shown to be suppressed, and others enhanced, relative to those present in the voltage wave.

Resume-On presente de nouvelles don&s experimentales, obtenues au moyan d'un appareillage perfection& sur le benzene, l'hexane normal et le cyclohexane purifies. Le courant dielectrique a la frtquence fondamentale est pratiquement entierement capacitif, mais on montre que le ditlectrique ne se comporte pas simplement comme une impedance non-lineaire;

en fait il doit aussi contenir l'equivalent d'une source. On montre que les harmoniques de courant ont une signification statistique a un niveau de confiance de 80 pour cent et que, par consequent, ils doivent etre associes a un processus physique ayant lieu dans le liquide soumis a une tension electrique. Bien qu'il y ait de nombreux points de similitude entre les trois liquides etudits, on constate des differences significatives entre leurs spectres d'harmoniques au niveau de confiance de 80 pour cent. Certains harmoniques sont attenuds, d'autres renfords par rapport a ceux qui se trouvent presents dans l'onde de tension.

Zusammenfassung-Die

Arbeit berichtet iiber weitere Untersuchungen, mit verbesserter Apparatur, an gereinigtem Benzol, N-Hexan, und Cyclohexan. Der Grundfrequenz-Strom durch das Dielektrikum ist fast ganz dielektrischer Verschiebungs-Strom.

Das Dielektrikum benimmt sich jedoch nicht einfach als eine nicht-lineare Impedanz, sondern schliesst such eine Stromquelle ein. Die Oberwellen im dielektrischen Strom sind statistisch signifikant (auf einem 80 Prozent Venrauens Niveau) und miissen daher mit einem physikalischen Prozess verbunden sein, der in der elektrisch beanspruchten Fliissigkeit vor sich geht. Die drei untersuchten Fltissigkeiten verhalten sich in vieler Beziehung Ihnlich, ihre Oberwellen Spektren jedoch sind statistisch signitikant verschieden, wiederum auf einem 80 Prozent Vetrauens Niveau. Bezogen auf den Oberwellen-Gehalt der Spannungs-Welle sind gewisse Oberwellen unterdrtickt und andere verstlrkt.
