β¦ Synopsis
This paper presents a program for analyzing and evaluating the harmonic components in a distribution system and describes the harmonic sources generated by various kinds of load components. The load energy models derived by EPRI are used to solve the load flow analysis of a distribution system at the fundamental frequency, and the harmonic equivalent circuits of induction motors are derived and applied in the simulation program. The harmonic load flow is solved by a current injection method based on the admittance matrix at each harmonic order. A Taipower distribution feeder was selected for demonstration to investigate the effects of harmonics on the distribution system. Furthermore, the impact of harmonics introduced by fluorescent lamps on a commercial feeder is simulated by this harmonic load flow program.
