✦ Synopsis
A direct determination of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy field (H,) of various polycrystalline materials of the type Nd>Fe,,B, Sm2Fe,,C,, SmzFe,,N, and R(Fe, T),? by using the singular-point-detection technique in the temperature range from 4.2 K up to the Curie temperature is demonstrated. Some recent results on determining the critical first order magnetization process (FOMP) field (H,,) using the same technique are also presented.

Magnetic treatment has been shown to be capable of altering mechanical properties of materials. Since the behavior of tribological systems depends on the mechanical characteristics of the interacting bodies, applying a magnetic field to an operating tribological system is a potential means for contr
