Secondo Lars-Johan Åge, esperto negoziatore svedese che collabora con l’unità ostaggi dell’FBI e con la polizia del Regno di Svezia, una trattativa può ritenersi vinta solo quando entrambe le parti coinvolte ne escono soddisfatte e, quindi, felici. Il suo metodo, battezzato Happy Happy , si fonda sull’idea-chiave che l’esito di una negoziazione sia influenzato tanto dal risultato quanto dal modo in cui lo si raggiunge. Quando si stringe un accordo è meglio avere una controparte felice e disposta a collaborare, piuttosto che destreggiarsi in un clima di ostilità e tensioni: trovare un compromesso soddisfacente per tutti innesca un circolo virtuoso che consente di ottenere risultati spesso migliori di quelli attesi.
Grazie alla sua esperienza sul campo, Åge ha elaborato un modello strategico facile ed efficace che è davvero alla portata di ognuno di noi perché, come scrive nell’introduzione, «il bisogno di collaborare e andare d’accordo con gli altri è parte del nostro dna».
