Happy Days Are Here Again
After suffering for the past few years from an embarrassment of riches, the Journal of the American Society for Information Science (JASZS) has now found the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. The large backlog of papers that have been accepted but awaiting publication, causing long delays in publishing, has been more than cut in half.
This has not come easily. The publisher, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., has worked long and hard on improving the management of the publication queue. Because of that, JASZS has gone from six to eight, and now from eight to ten issues per year (volume). This has increased the number of pages printed annually, so the number of quality research articles, book reviews, perspectives, and so on that can be published annually has been increased. A quick analysis of the dates listed for any research article in a recent issue of JASZS should bear out these glad tidings. In addition, the JASZS Editorial Board and the ASIS Publications Committee must be thanked, with special gratitude for the efforts of Marjorie Hlava and of Bruce Croft and the &ISIS Subcommittee.
