Splenectomy for massive splenomegaly in thrombocytopenic patients refractory to platelet transfusions carries increased surgical risks. Blocking of the splenic artery may reduce the size of the organ, prolong the survival of transfused platelets, and reduce the surgical complications. We describe fo
