✦ Synopsis

A pulsed EPR method for determining free radical scavenging rate constants is presented, which bypasses the common problem of nonlinear enhancement of EPR signals by chemically induced dynamic electron polarization (CIDEP). By recording the free induction decay (PID ) of transverse magnetization as a function of scavenger concentration, simple pseudo-tint-order scavenging behavior is recovered. The method is demonstrated in aqueous solution for the reaction of H atom with OH' to give solvated e1ectron.At24"C,weobtain~(H)=2.3f0.3x10'M-'s-'andlg(D)=2.9+0.5>(10'M-'s-'.0urresult
