โฆ Synopsis
Bioreclamation of Contaminated Goundwater," Illinois Dept. of Energy and Natural Resources, Report HWRIC RR-031, October, 1990). The report (and, hence, Chapter 5) describes a laboratory investigation into the stimulation of chlorinated-solvent biodegradation through the creation of a subsurface biologically active zone using controlled electron donor and acceptor additions. Chapter 5 is well written, but presents only the detailed description of one laboratory study.
In summary, we find it difficult to recommend this book. The haphazard presentation in Chapters 1 through 3 is confusing for readers looking for a basic introduction to the field. For readers with expertise in biotechnological processes, the low level of detail in Chapters 1 through 4 and the datedness throughout are major deficiencies.
