✦ Synopsis
GUENTHER von ELBE
1903-1988 IN MEMORIAM
Dr. Guenther von Elbe died on April 4, 1988, at the home of his daughter Jenifer Cassaboom in Santa Ana, California. He had undergone surgery for cancer in the fall of 1986, from which he made a remarkable recovery. However, the condition reoccurred in late 1987 and resulted in his death. Guenther was a preeminent combustion scientist, held in highest respect and friendship by his peers, dearly loved by his family, and a colleague and personal friend of mine. His passing is a great sorrow and loss to the entire combustion community.
