✦ Synopsis

The first successful growth of La 1/2 Na 1/2 TiO 3 (LNTO) single crystals by floating zone method is reported. This growth requires specific atmosphere conditions to avoid vaporization of Na, and a post-growth annealing under dioxygen to get pure LNTO phase. We report, for the first time, dielectric measurements on a LNTO crystal, which confirm the quantum paraelectric behavior of this material.
