โœฆ Synopsis

Fatigue growth data has been obtained for part-through thickness cracks in sheet specimens of polymethylmethacrylate subjected to cyclic tension. Statistical techniques are used to examine the usefulness of linear elastic fracture mechanics for correlating this pad-through thickness crack growth data with throughthickness data published previously.

## Abstract Fatigue crack growth (FCG) experiments were performed on a commercial high density polyethylene (PEโ€HD) pipe grade classified as PE 100 material. The effects of frequency on FCG behaviour were studied. Furthermore, FCG tests were interrupted in the region of stable crack propagation. Th

Variable-amplitude fat@ue studies of 2024-13 ab&num alloy were performed to examine the effect of sheet thickness on fatigue crack growth rate retardation. Results indicated tbat the amouot of retardation increased with decreasing specimen thickness. This phenomenon was attrii to enhanced plastic st

Fatigue tests have been carried out on edge notched mild steel specimens of various thicknesses. Results are presented showing the effect of thickness on crack initiation, crack growth and the geometry and fractography of the fracture surface. It was found that both crack initiation and crack growth
