β¦ Synopsis
A lactate dehydrogenase deficient strain of B. stearothermophilus, lld-15, was outgrown by revertants to lactate production when cultivated in a chemostat at D = 0.25 h-' on a rich complex medium at a sucrose concentration of 2.5% (w/v) but was maintained without reversion at this dilution rate when the sucrose concentration was only 0.5% (w/v). In batch culture the revertant showed characteristics which distinguished it both from-. stearothermophilus strains Ild-15 and NCA 1503.

The optimal culture conditions for Bacillus stearothermophilus NUB3621 (BGSC 9A5) in chemostat were studied. The results obtained showed that the optimal culture conditions in terms of biomass concentration and maximum growth rate were 65Β°C, pH 6.8 to 7.2. Dissolved oxygen became growth limiting at
## Abstract __Klebsiella pneumoniae__ HR526, a new isolated 1,3βpropanediol (1,3βPD) producer, exhibited great productivity. However, the accumulation of lactate in the lateβexponential phase remained an obstacle of 1,3βPD industrial scale production. Hereby, mutants lacking Dβlactate pathway were
