✦ Synopsis
Recently we have found that UV laser light irradiation is effective in converting from the c-axis to the a-axis oriented growth of YBa2Cu3OT_6 films on MgO (100) by MOCVD. The same effect is observed also on the substrates of polyerystaUine MgO, Sr-TiO3(100), and YSZ(100). a-Axis oriented growth is not promoted by a transient melting, because the a-axis orientation disappeared with laser power high enough for surface melting to occur. Considering our experiments on this problem, we conclude that the nucleation sites for a-axis oriented growth are introduced by a photo-chemical reaction of Ba source material during UV irradiation onto the YBaaCu3OT_6 films.
