We studied the level of the cytosolic phosphotyrosine protein phosphatase (PTPase) (originally termed low-M, acid phosphatase) in normal NIH/3T3 and in v-erbB-transformed fibroblasts. The level of the enzyme, assayed by ELISA, was inversely related to cell proliferation, normally growing cells had l
