Thanatophoric dysplasia (TD) is characterized by a disorganized growth plate with markedly reduced proliferative and hypertrophic cartilage zones. Therefore, we studied in vitro the proliferation rates of articular chondrocytes from five TD patients and age-matched controls in response to bFGF, IGF-
