✦ Synopsis

Group equivalents which are useful for converting energies derived from ab initio calculations into enthalpies of formation have been obtained. They allow AHf to be estimated from 6-31G* energies with an uncertainty on the order of k 2 kcal/mol.

New atom equivalents are introduced to convert BP/DN \* \* //MMFF energies into formation enthalpies. As a result of using molecular mechanics structures, poor results are obtained for compounds outside the scope of the force field, such as those bearing -NF 2 groups or some nitrogenous systems. Not

## Abstract To properly represent weak hydrogen bonds to sulfur in biological systems, a new multipoint model of atomic sulfur for the amino acid methionine is introduced. This is of particular importance for the description of ligand‐protein interactions. The parametrization is performed by fittin
