Once upon a time, any waste, human or otherwise, accumulated upon the narrow boats would simply have been emptied into the canals. In these more enlightened times, things are done a bit differently. Though some boats are still fitted with chemical toilets similar to those used by campers and caravanners, the majority use "service stations" like the one operated by Sovereign, located at strategic points on the canal network.
