IGCP 368 is holding a symposium at the 30th IGC, Beijing to be held from August 4-14,1996 (session 8-6, major Precambrian events and the division of tectonic episodes, co-convened by H. C. Halls, Qian, Xianglin and Yoshida). A proceedings volume of original papers presented at the symposium will be published by an international publisher, most probably as a special issue of an international journal. You are encouraged to contribute papers to either of these meetings as well as to the proceeding volume. Correspondence should be sent to either M. Yoshida (Osaka) or M. Santosh (Trivandrum). The first field workslhop of IGCP 368 (Proterozoic evnts in East Gondwana) will be held in Trivandrum on August 2431,1996. The field workshop will visit important locations including Punalur, Tirunelveli, Kodaikkanal, Madurai and Kanyakumari in the states of Kerala and Tamil Naldu, involving transects across the Proterozoic terranes of the Kerala Khondalite belt, the Madurai block and the Periyar block. Two days of pm-field workshop sylmposium will be held. Abstracts/extended abstracts (not exceeding 3 typed pages in A-4 size)/posters are invited on topics related to the general themes of IGCP 368.
