✦ Synopsis
PbM06Sg is a potential superconducting material for high magnetic field applications, but, up to now, the critical current density J c is still slightly to low to make it competitive for technical development. Analyses based on specific heat and ac susceptibility experiments m zero magnetic field show that the poor connections between the grains of this material limit already Jc near Tc' * SllJ'ported by the Commission (Suisse) pour l'Encouragement de la Recherche Scientifique, within EUREKA 96.

The Chevrel-phase compounds PbMo6S8 and Cul.8Mo6S8 have been investigated by tunneling spectroscopy. These superconductors show a very strong electron-phonon interaction expressed by 4 <--2Ao/kTc<--5. Structures in the tunneling density of states have been observed at most energies where the phonon
Resistive (R(B,T)) transitions for both PbMo6S8 (PMS) and SnMo6S8 (SMS) compounds were measured in applied magnetic fields. For both compounds, the pseudo upper critical field Bc2\*(T) lines determined at different constant resistance criteria show a deviation from the expected thermodynamic Bc2(T).
