✦ Synopsis


The grain growth behavior of nanocrystalline Zn-22% Al (d = 41 nm) was investigated, and the experimental data were compared with those of its coarse-grained powder and bulk counterparts. The results of the comparison suggest that the observed high value of the grain growth exponent, n (n = 7.0) for the nanocrystalline alloy can be attributed to the presence of second-phase dispersions and microporosity.
