✦ Synopsis


Incubation times and frequency factors are derived for some cases of heterogeneous nucleation on grain boundaries. The incubation time in all cases is found to be proportional to the critical nucleus volume squared divided by the frequency factor and free energy of critical nucleus formation. It is shown that an energetically favorable reaction possibly may not occur if another reaction with a smaller incubation time is possible. General methcds for calculation of frequency factors and incubation times are also given. CINETIQUE DE GERMINATION AUX JOINTS DE GRAINS Le temps d'incubation et les facteurs de frequence sont deduits de quelques cas de germination h&&ogene aux joints de grains. L'auteur trouve que dans tous les cas le temps d'incubation est proportionnel au car& du volume critique du noyau divise par le facteur de Wquence et l'energie libre de formation du noyau critique. 11 montre qu'il ne serait pas impossible qu'une reaction Bnergetiquement favorable puisse ne pas se produire si une autre reaction ayant un temps d'incubation plus court est possible. DIE KINETIK DER KEIMBILDUNG AN KORNGRENZEN Fiir einige Fiille heterogener Keimbildung an Korngrenzen wurden die Inkubationszeiten und Frequenzfaktoren abgeleitet. In allen Fallen ist die Inkubationszeit proportional dem Quadrat des kritischen Keimvolumens und umgekehrt proportional dem Produkt aus Frequenzfaktor und der freien Energie der Keimbildung.
