adsorption chromatography of higher aromatic substances on alumina was improved by using a programmed gradient of pentane-ether which shortened the time of analysis and increased the sharpness of the separation.
The suitability of the method was demonstrated in a qualitative and quantitative analysis of creosote oils. A sensitive photometric detection method permitted work with sample amounts smaller than I mg.
