CCIC bares ultra-deep desulfurization catalyst

Catalysts and Chemicals Industries Co (CCIC), Japan, has developed an ultra-deep desulfurization catalyst that can cut the level of sulfur in diesel fuel to below 10 ppm. New regulations regarding the level of sulfur in diesel fuel (50 ppm) will come into effect in Japan in 2005. Europe is to reduce the level to 10 ppm, so tougher regulations are expected in Japan in the future.
