GOPALAKELICANDRIK.A IV.100 In Gopfilakelicandrikfi IV.100abd the manuscript reads: vdrarh vdrarh vdksudhdsekayogdd / dnild 'ntar lolanetrdlavdlaih /. . . / evarh vyuptd vardhate premavalli. Caland (1917:131 n. 10) diffidently suggested reading dnitd for dnild: "If the creeper Love is repeatedly watered, by sprinkling the nectar of (your) words (viz. on its leaves) (and), internally, via the tree trenches of (her) flashing eyes, then, so watered, it will grow." For the neologism vyupta 'watered' cf. BhfigPur. X.44.11 gramavdry-upta-, etc. Caland had not recognized that la for ta occurs more than once (IV.82b, VI.6.2): it proves that the text of the palm leaf manuscript was not written in Grantha (Caland 1917: 2, K. 1987: 149) but in Malayalam script; see Burnell 1873: XXIX. In line c de Vreese's emendation (1989: 465) kdnta for kdta (not kdna!) is doubtless correct but his interpretation of the lines b and d is not acceptable. I take this opportunity to signalize a serious mistake in the text: for II.47b cauryena read cauryen, ai 'va.
