✦ Synopsis
The concept of Good Clinical Practice is now well established with regulatory authorities throughout the world and has been used in the human pharmaceutical industry to verify and control clinical research. The E.U. Note of Guidance extends the concept to the field of veterinary medicines and is the first attempt to provide a framework within which clinical trials of veterinary medicines can be conducted in member states of the European Union. Like many documents of their nature it is only when attempts are made to implement the guidance that problems in interpretation arise and this review highlights some areas of difficulty and suggests some ways forward.
