โฆ Synopsis
Anguilla anguilla elvers, reared in warm fresh water, were treated with 17 a-methyltestosterone (MT) and with 17 cr-ethynilestradiol (EE), administered with a commercial diet. A very low proportion of untreated elvers developed as females. A very high proportion of the EE treated elvers developed as females and the gonads differentiated as ovaries a t an earlier growth stage.
Among the MT treated elvers, in a very low proportion of eels the gonads developed as ovaries, most into a undifferentiated testis-like gonad and some with abnormal histological features.

## Abstract This study investigated the possibility that the histological process of gonadal sex differentiation in pejerrey (__Odontesthes bonariensis__), a fish with marked temperatureโdependent sex determination (TSD), occurs through a predictable gradient of differentiation as opposed to simult
The objectives of the present study were to investigate the enzymatic characteristics of brain aromatase in Japanese eel, Anguilla japonica, as well as the correlations between aromatase activities in various tissues (brain regions, pituitary, and gonads) and ovarian development.
