A bioassay method has been employed to measure concentrations of glucose in the Central h1aZ0n lakes. Michaelis-Menten enzyme kinet.ic3 parameters from the 14 bioassay measurements were made during this study. Concentrations of glucose found in Lago Tup6 ( 1 0 4 8 5 pg/l), Lago Cristalino (8-393 pg/l) and Lago Janauari ( 1 4 8 5 pg/l) are greater than anticipated. The bioassay method is applicable in determining concentrations of glucose in freshwater of the Central Amazon.
