✦ Synopsis
Low temperature ashing techniques are widely used to determine mineral matter content and in the analysis of the composition of the inorganic matter in coal and coal products. This Paper presents a new technique which makes it possible to ash coals in 4 (low-rank coals) to w8 (high-rank coals) h per gramme. The problem of the formation of LTA artefacts is described and differences between authigenic and artefactic minerals are indicated.
