β¦ Synopsis
Lffccrs of the iniriai atomic orienrarion on rhe total cross secrion o uere measursd for Ga-r.we-gas collisions by using m~~rneticsll~ state-selected and oriented Ga(2P,,2) afoms. The oricntstion effect PO/O XX.IS found to be several percent in magnitude. Orientation-dependent glory phenomena were clearl_r observed. The measured effects are analyzed in terms of 3 pair of potmtl;lls for the 5? = 3/Z and l/Z states of the quasi-molecule.
