โœฆ Synopsis

Differential scanning calorimetry was used to investigate the glass-to-rubber transition at 383 K of Illinois No. 6 coal dried at 383 K and thermally treated to 523 K. The intensity of the transition is 0.2 J g-' K-I, 'run 2' in Figure 1. The sample was then cooled to 303 K. This procedure was repeated five times.

After this set of experiments, the sample was thermally 001~2361/94/01/0113X13

Coal tar pitches generally have very complex chemical compositions and structures. Their physico-chemical properties depend on the mutual molecular interactions of their various components. In order to characterize these materials further the properties related to their glass transition behaviour ha
