when DuPont announced that it was raising its prices by $0.04 per pound (or $90 per tonne), with effect from mid-June. The other major suppliers followed suit, though the effective date of their price increases was cited as 1 July. (See 'Focus on Pigments', Jul 2006, 2).
Towards the end of September, DuPont posted a price increase of $0.04 per pound for TiO 2 pigments destined for use by North American papermakers. The increase was due to take effect on 15 October or as soon as permitted by contract terms. The company stated: "This increase is supported by market dynamics and significant increases in raw material, energy, fuel costs, as well as reinvestment economics to meet future customer needs."
