Comparison of the angular geometries of a series of B... C12 complexes of the Mulliken n.a~r and b~r.atr type with those of the series B...HCI, where B = CO, HF, PH 3, H2S, C2H2, C2H 4 HCN, and NH3, reveals the two series to be isostructural for a given B. ✦ Synopsis
A computational result is presented for naphthdene which suggests that the conformation of the triplet evcimer is significantly different from a sandwich-pair geometry favored by the singlet excimer. A major consequence of the non-sandwich-pair geometry of the triplet excimer is a breakdown of the o--R separation which leads to an increased Tr -r So radiative transition probability for the excimer as compared to the corresponding monomer.
