✦ Synopsis

We studied the distributions of the diamagnetic shielding, the Meissner effect and the trapped field across ring-and disc-shaped samples of Y IBa2Cu307 at 17K, and their dependence on the applied magnetic field (0-1200G) and time. Geometry-dependent modifications were observed for the shielding and the trapped field. These modifications are attributed to the change in local field gradients and the interaction between macroscopic persistent currents and intergranular trapped vortices.

The distribution, creep and pinning of intergranular vortices were studied at 77 Kin Y1Ba2Cu30]-o in which the intergranular space was partly filled with silver. The reduction of the diamagnetic shielding, the trapped field as well as the activation energy for intergrain flux creep from 1.6 eV down
