✦ Synopsis
report of this nature. The authors warn the reader that because of their own individual research interests some of the sections are 'inevitably more authoritative' than others. My own impression is that this admitted bias is not apparent.
Under each system the procedure is more or less the same. Thus, sections on introduction, distribution of sediments, biostratigraphy, palaeobiogeography (except for the Silurian), general comments on the trilobite faunas and their potential appear for all the systems. There is a section on international zones for the Cambrian. In addition to the range cham the authors include summaries of zonal schemes and stratigraphical distributions of species within lithostratigraphic units for selected areas.
