โฆ Synopsis
This issue of the Journal contains two articles by Abby Lippmann-Hand and F. Clark
Fraser on genetic counseling. The areas which they address -communication, perception of recurrence rate, and decision making -are subjects in genetic counseling that have been little researched t o date. The articles reflect Lippman-Hand and Fraser's study of communication during genetic counseling and the perceptions of the counseling information during the postcounseling period. In addition the authors have developed a model of how counselees make reproductive decisions after counseling. This study, in defining the route of information processing from counseling t o decision making, is a remarkable and commendable accomplishment. These pioneering articles, with their breadth of inquiry into counselee decision making, are important additions to the literature.
