## Abstract ## Objective To define the genetic basis of susceptibility to ankylosing spondylitis (AS), especially nonβmajor histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes. ## Methods The study group comprised 244 affected sibling pairs from 180 pedigrees of primarily European ancestry. Sibling pairs wer
