Triparental group analysis" (AKSEL, 1967) was applied to measurements of six characters (days-to-head, plant height, tiller number per plant, kernel number per spike, single kernel weight and total grain yield per plant) of the wheat varieties Chinese Spring, Timstein, the substitution line SL( lB)Tim, and their crosses and backcrosses. Highly significant allelic and non-allelic interactions were found at the within-chromosome level only. The substituted chromosome pair 1B of Timstein was found to contain two or more genes conditioning plant height, tiller number per plant, kernel number per spike and total grain yield per plant.
