β¦ Synopsis
Kcrenimine (cthenimine, vinylidcneamine, H2C : C : NH) has been generated by low-pressure pyrolysis of 3-hydrosypropionitrile and 9.10-dihydro-9,10-(iminoethylene)anthracene. Its rotational spectrum has been investigated from 12 to 200 GHz. Measurcmcnt of 35 pa-and pc-type transitions yielded therorational constantsA = 201443.69(B), B = 9663_138(2), C = 9470.127(2) MHz. the dipole moment pa = 0.434(l). pLc = l-371(6), or = l-438(6) D and t4N-quadrupole coupling constants, together with six centrifugal distortion constants. All these csperimcntal constants are in close accord with ab initio molecular-orbital calculations. The lifetime of kctcnimine in our spectrometer is less than 1 s.
