✦ Synopsis


The authors are active investigators in the field of experimental cytology. DeRobertis is perhaps the most omnivorous of the three in his interest in the activities of the cell and has published contributions especially in cytochemistry. Nowinski is particularly interested in the lii-in-ing. cell in its physicochemical aspects and its metabolic activity. 8aez has specialized in the nucleus, chromosomes and cytogenetics.

The book arose originally from a desire to provide a synthesis of modern cytology in the Spanish language. The success of the Spanish edition has prompted the undertaking of this English edition which is much more than a mere translation. The scope and plan were not altered but much new material and thirty-four illustrations were added.
