## Abstract A functional promoter polymorphism in the progesterone receptor (__PR__) gene previously has been associated with an increased risk of postmenopausal breast cancer. Whether the relationship between genetic variation in __PR__ and risk of breast cancer is modified by postmenopausal hormo
