Abstract

Synthesis of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate‐co‐ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) gels containing pendant mercapto groups via transesterification of 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate moieties with O,O‐diethyl dithiophosphate is described and the gel structure elucidated by ^1^H and ^31^P NMR and elemental analysis. The gels respond to changes in their liquid environment.
