✦ Synopsis

The decomposition of Gd 2 (SeO 4 ) 3 in the presence of LiF in sealed gold ampoules yields single crystals of Gd 3 (SeO 3 ) 4 F (hexagonal, P6 3 mc, Z = 2, a = 1044.3(1), b = 694.32(7) pm, R all = 0.0286). In the crystal structure one SeO 3 2± group and one F ± ion cap a ring of three Gd atoms.

Furthermore, the crystal structure is strongly influenced by the lone pairs of the SeO 3 2± ions.

The title compound was prepared from cobalt(II) acetate with Me 3 SiNPEt 3 at 180 °C and subsequent crystallization from diethylether to give blue, moisture sensitive single crystals, which were characterized by a crystal structure determination. Space group P2 1 /n, Z = 2, lattice dimensions at ±80
