Multiphoton absorption by H is studied in the various representations from length 2 . gauge to space-translated frame which can be associated to nuclear motion in a two-electronic state description. It is shown that the transformation from length gauge to velocity gauge is equivalent, in the asymptotic region, to a diabatic to adiabatic operation performed on the channel functions. These functions behave as single outgoing waves and give stabilized fluxes which can be identified to the partial rates. We examine also these fluxes in the region of channel interaction. They give a useful picture of the events taking place as the system dissociates.
