✦ Synopsis
Five species of Lijmrirlze.~ in South Africa were found to gather grass pollen, four of them exclusively. Thcy preferred certain grass species. choosing only 21 of the 84 species that grow in the nursery where the study was conducted, with only a few grass species being visited during each season during the study period. The bees occurred on the grasses for the latter part of summer only. Their daily activity synchronised with the anthesis of the grasses, which occurred at different times o f the morning in the different grass species. There was neither anthesis of the grasses nor emergence of the bees during the afternoon.
