✦ Synopsis
The gas chromatographic separation of a mixture of some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their nitro derivatives (nitro-PAHs) was studied onan SE-30 quartz capillary column under various temperature-programmed and isothermal operating conditions. The relative retention data and the Kovats retention indices, relative to n-alkanes, and the PAC retention indices, relative to polycyclic aromatic compounds, viz., naphthalene, phenanthrene, chrysene and picene, together with both retention in&x increments due to the nitro substitution are given. The results are examined and compared with those reported previously for PAHs and nitro-PAHs.
