✦ Synopsis

During a special visit to the Fr e u d e n b e r g -N O K / I n t e rnational Seal Co O-ring facility in Santa Ana, California, Space Shuttle pilot US Navy Commander Stephen Frick paid tribute to its employees for the performance of their highquality products.

The facility supplied specially designed fluorocarbon O-rings for the safety and arming device used in the spacecraft's reusable solid rocket motors produced by ATK Thiokol Propulsion. These motors provided more than 70% of the thrust at lift-off and first-stage ascent of Space Shuttle Atlantis during its 13th mission to the space station.

The facility produces O-rings and plate seals, and was one of the first O-ring manufacturers to receive NAS-1613 material approval for aerospace hydraulic systems.

It has also developed highperformance fluorocarbon and perfluoro compounds for the aerospace and industrial markets. Focusing on superior quality, it has earned several quality certifications, including AS-9000, QS-9000 and ISO 9000.

The Santa Ana facility is the aerospace operation of Simrit, a complete sealing products and systems provider for the industrial market.
